Disappear

Samantha Russler 1988 (Baltimore)

Have you ever watched someone disappear
Holding their hand
Screaming their name
Relentless and with a whole heart
No matter what that person slowly
Disappears
Into Trails of
Tears that made
Scratches so deep it looked like
It might make the world quake
Shaking she tried to hard
To hold on for
Her kids
She held tight
Fought so hard
The earth really might quake
Shake
Loose balance and see
She begged to not
Disappear
Slowly
Surely she had to let go
Of all the reaching
All the scratching
She just wanted to feel
Loved
She wanted to be wanted
To Disappear
