She Never Cared For Flowers

A vision of beauty, aroma to amaze,
They blossom through sunshine and showers,
But live a brief life of merely a few days,
So, She Never Cared For Flowers,

A vision of beauty that time can't distort,
Blossomed through love, she cherished the hours,
Living her life that was much too short,
No, do not send her flowers,

She said, "Show me your love in other ways,
Smother me with kisses, caress till I cry,
Hug me so tightly, say sweet words each day,
Don't give me flowers for they soon fade and die,

No, She Never Cared For Flowers,
They live for a while, become shriveled and dried,
We met, we loved, but eternity's not ours,
She's heaven's new star, and with her, my soul died.

About this poem

In honor of my dear wife who lost her battle with cancer in the year 2015. It depicts my impression of her distress at the thought of her imminent passing on
