blue Jays

It was the blue jays who tore the glass, cobalt blue, feeder down.

Shattered, maybe. Definitely not intact.
Such aggressive birds. Beautiful and mean.
Territorial and selfish.

It was the blue jays, who, while paired and majestic, took down the literal hand that fed them.

What about the glass left in their wake?
No where to be seen. How strange and tragic.
It was as if the mistake never even occurred...

Who carries away the waste?

The heavenly cardinal lands with piety and confidence.
He chases the blue jays away.

It was the blue jay who caused the disruption, the mistake, with unending grief and sorrow.

Gone now, likely to come back later...
Unless I shoo them away.
