Dear Children of God
Dear children of God:
Each one of you is special,
Made in His image,
Created, and so fashioned,
In the way He desired.
Gifted with language;
Each with a special tongue
For your expressions.
And all of them beautiful—
With Him as the architect.
Carved and formed by Him,
The artisan of mankind.
Formed with different hues,
He painted all as flowers
To glorify His garden.
His hand a palette
Adorned with earthy colors;
With Him as artist,
Designing each one of you
With the right shade and color.
And so thoughtfully
He placed you in His garden;
The place you call home —
Your native land and country;
The whole world as His garden.
Dear children of God:
As you grow up, remember
The one who made you —
The one who made you special;
Just the way he wanted.
Harm may come your way,
Temptations to dissuade you;
But He is watchful —
Always there to protect you,
With tender loving kindness.
The mercy He shows,
He asks you to show others.
All are His children,
And you are thus related.
Out of many, made as One.
You will bear children,
But He will be the father,
The Grand Architect;
For He is our provider,
In bad times and in good times.
So, as you grow up,
Remember to honor Him
Every single day;
From sunrise until sunset —
From first breath, until last breath.
Dear children of God:
One commandment He gives you:
Love one another
With the fervor you love Him —
For you are all His children.
About this poem
This poem was inspired by the precepts of the SHEMA, expressing belief in the singularity of God, of God’s Oneness and incomparability and, as a consequence, the oneness of humanity as children of God, made divinely in His image. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says.
