Just Listen

Belinda Richmond 1979 (Chicago)

“Don’t Speak!”  “Just Listen!”
Listen to the Sounds that are Around You,
Listen to the Wind that Blows through the Trees,
Listen to the Buzzing of the Bees,
Listen to the Chirping of the Birds,
Listen to the Speaking of these Words.

Did you take the time out to Just Listen?

Listen to the Singing of the Chorus,
Listen to the Wild Animals in the Forrest,
Listen to All the Voices of Chatter,
Listen to the Rambling Noise of Clatter.

Did you take the time out to Just Listen?

Listen to the Wind Blowing in the Trees,
Listen to that Person that Just Sneezed,
Listen to the Water Waves Crashing Around,
Listen to All of the Wonderful Sounds.

Did you take the time out to Just Listen?

“Don’t Speak!”  “Just Listen!”
If You Don’t You Might Miss Out
Of the noise of clatter, screams and shouts
If You talk you will not Hear
The noise around you in your Ear

“Don’t Speak!”  “Just Listen!”
Listen to the Speaker on the Stand,
Listen to the Loud and Annoying Band,
Listen to the People Scream and Yell,
Listen to the Ringing of the Bell.

DID YOU TAKE THE TIME OUT TO JUST LISTEN?
