Dark Angels

Richard Groff 1957 (Pottstown, Pa.)

Help me LORD; protect me from the evil one

The eyes have it and the mouth speaks
And evil flows from pretty cheeks
Somehow the words all sound the same
As each one in his voice proclaims

This time you’re trapped, where is God now?
This time I’m going to kill you pal!

But evil eyes on a pretty face
Is such a shame and a disgrace!
A look is worth a thousand words
And in the look his voice is heard

The evil one speaks nice and clear
To those who would have ears to hear
He masquerades as an angel of light
His servants are pretty and love to fight!
