Nighttime Blues

We stumble across the street,
Glasses in hand as we trip and fall,
The street fills me with something so discrete.

We walk away from what we cheat,
Those barstools that stood so tall,
We stumble across the street.

That liquid shimmer fills me with something sweet,
Sweet, yet not enough to stop me crawl,
The street fills me with something so discrete.

There I fell and sat in that backseat,
Of a yellow cab that stood in front of me like a wall,
We stumble across the street.

I shiver and stride, searching for a treat,
I drop on my bedroom floor and begin to bawl,
The street fills me with something so discrete.

Now I’ve found what makes the street so neat,
The way it widens my eyes yet they remain so small.
We stumble across the street,
The street fills me with something so discrete.
