what they found

Audrey Cook 1955 (Los Angeles)

I knew two people
who were approaching
their golden years
neither knew the other
until a song
cleared the air
 and she began to care
she had always loved men with
eyes so brown
 when she saw him
his held   a crown
her eyes were light
her hair was light brown
and she shopped and wore hats
all over town
her feelings had always been so very deep
but you see with love she had been cheated
and her heart felt crushed and defeated
when she saw him she felt so silly and so young
she saw her rock start with watercolor eyes
dark and wild hair
rustling in the wind
but in him her heart held a pin
she dreamed of dancing in the sand
how beautifully sculpted were his hands
and how with just a pluck of the strings
 changed everything
one day
a note began
and spilled over
and made joy cry out loud
and her heart danced among the clouds
 two hands met
and from upon that magnetic intersection
they stumbled upon affection
and as they waited at the light
they had someone knew
to hold them tight
