Nature Strung Her Gems Today

George Taylor Jenkins 1839 (Kentucky) – 1913 (United States)

Nature strung her gems today
On the trees across the way;
Every tiny twig a-shine,
Each sun-sparkling jewel mine.

Mine to hold within my heart,
Mine to thank Thee for Thy part,
In the many beauties spread,
And the love around us shed.

Thank you, God, for the eyes to see
Beauty in each bush and tree.
Give us minds to understand,
Ev'ry gift is from Thy hand.
