Dissent

Don Grimm 1976 (SF, CA)

I reminisce about days
predating our moral decay..
Time has paved the way
to madness and disarray..
Pay no mind to the stage
because it's all a facade..
And burn another page
as a calling to God..
Turn to the grieving mage
appalled at the fraud..
that brought war to foreign
shores and mauled at a nod..
We've fought scores of hordes,
and shed gore in vain..
Fooled by works of lore, we
bled pouring to attain..
a piece of the light and
the right to be free..
Despite these tyrannical
cowards and their decree..
The powers that be, rule
against the voice of consent
Such treason is the reason
our only choice is dissent.

About this poem

This poem is about individual citizens standing their ground and bravely defying leaders who demonstrate through their actions that they have less than noble intentions.

Don Grimm

Don Grimm writes a lot, but despises bios. So instead of a bio, Don Grimm will write another poem here. Roses aren't always red Why are Violets called Violets? And why aren't there any narcoleptic helicopter pilots? more…
