Twisted Mister

Richard Groff 1957 (Pottstown, Pa.)

Keep my eyes from worthless things
And from fantasies that profit no one
Don’t let me think on evil things
Or make my plans for my fun

Sometimes I think my wife and friends
Would be better off without me

My fantasies are always wrong
Not one of them is right
They rob me of my pleasant rest
And keep me up at night

I think I can control their thoughts
And have them never doubt me

I need to get a little sleep
And clean up all my thoughts
So, I can follow your commands
And do the things I ought

Mind my own business and work with my hands
Hate everything evil and forget my own plans
