Slipping through their fingers

She wants to give him the gift
Of knowing her
            He longs to take the gift she gives
            And understand
Into his hands she trusts herself…
….And falls
             He cannot hold the form she gives;
            …she falls
She thinks he let her go
And now she’s hurt
               Dismayed at his ineptitude
               He withers
She thinks him without love or care.
She hurts
              He withers from his own stupidity,
               But loves
She’s reminded now of other times
She fell
                He knows the bruises multiply;
                He is afraid
She will not trust as much again;
The less to bruise.
                 If allowed, he’ll try again, so hard,
                To hold her safe.

She wants to give
                   He wants to hold

But for both it´s getting harder
