Harsh snow

It was the crisp winter of Seattle on some year

I was outside just 2 blocks down from my home

In a park which was covered, layered in snow

The snow was thick, being a couple feet down

Before hitting a brick like soil which is frozen over

I trudged through the snow going up a slope

The cold poking at my winter suit

A frigid day with the sun blocked out

The clouds darkened like ash flying in the sky

At the top of the hill was a sled

Held by my father, it was orange and bright

It was the only thing like sunlight there

So, I climbed aboard and let myself go

As I was riding above the snow

This went on multiple times

The fun fading for each turn

I would have kept going even so

But I stopped, tumbling forward

Hitting the snow, I fell face first

Being on my knees I did not want more

So, I resorted to trying other things

How foolish I was, challenging my dad

I knew little of what he had in store for me

He was swift and accurate, hitting my eye

It was at that time that I cried

Home we went as the sun peeked out

A day that I don’t speak about
