Picked Benefactors

Oh...
The agony and pain that comes,
To the ones who believe...
Their influence to achieve over others,
Has begun...
A pendulum swing.
Heading towards those charading bravery,
Seen beginning to run.
As far as they can and away from threats.
Threats of their own making.

Can what,
Is intended to break the faith and hope...
Of humanity.
By the unwinding of once conscious minds.
Absent of sense to have had.
Yet...
Unaware of this to miss.
However,
Made convinced...
To have an immortal permanence.

Can a seduction so overwhelming,
Be that powerful to leave behind...
Even a narcissistic ego.
Sickened and blinded...
By their own fictionalized existence?

The proof and evidence to a question like this,
Is pointless.
Especially when the answer,
Has flashing neon signs on it.
And skipping around everywhere...
Confessing to fraud and crimes committed.

An habitual addiction,
Fed and meant exclusively to feed...
Deception and hypocrisy.
That will leave,
A selection of picked numbed nuts...
Left to believe themselves benefactors?

And...
What will that benefit to leave,
To those benefactors be?
The warm caress of a dollar bill?
Or the warm soft touches,
Of chrome encrusted copper made things.
Glistening.
Until the rust starts to fade,
Pretensions taught to imitate a fakeness.

'Who is benefitting from what done to do?
As something of value to leave to who?
To then perceive the worth is priceless.'
