THE PAINTINGS OF HIS CROSS

THE PAINTINGS OF HIS CROSS

The tearing and wearing miles to Golgotha
Filled with piles of pains and unlaughter,
The cross was terribly heavy,
A scene no mankind can envy.

The thirty-nine piercing lashes,
Unto Him came with burning rashes,
His hand was damaged with brutal nails
That man may have hope and better days.

The agony of His cross,
To flush our felony and dross,
Curled in the flame of shame,
They divided His cloth with rage.

Neglected and rejected by His friends
His sovereign reign has no end
Preferred to the king was a notorious prisoner
That man may live joyously forever.

Humiliated! But sinless lamb of mankind,
Surrounded by fleets of cruel men,
Born like a commoner, but in death a KING
Reigning forever and ever, Amen.
