i can’t hold your hand

do you remember the day you learned the world would end?

i used to imagine who i'd call when it finally happened

but it felt like right at that moment the earth would swallow itself whole

in spite, it didn't

i ran to my mother looking to lose the weight of the world

she said she couldn't hold my hand

still the world remains intact

something finally clicked

and everything felt heavier for some reason
