Turning in the Night

Richard Groff 1957 (Pottstown, Pa.)

After the rain
The Son will return
And all the unrighteous
And wicked will burn

Burn in their heart
For the sin they committed
Burn in their soul
Because they were outwitted

Outwitted because they
Had lingered too long
Outwitted because they
Believed they were strong

They did not know wisdom
They did not know fear
They did not perceive
That the day had drawn near

The Day of the LORD
Will be darkness not light
The Day of the LORD
Filled with thunder and fright

The Day of the LORD
Will fall down on their head
A Day filled with wonder
A Day filled with dread

It will come like a thief
As you lie on your bed
Jesus Christ! Here He comes!
Yes, that’s what I said
