Your Lies Are Like Poison

Like the change in the tides
The person I thought I knew cries
You cry and beg for me to stay when I know you're toxic
You've had me locked up in a little cage and I wish I could escape

I can't deal with this anymore
I've been trying to help you for many years before
Why out of all times is this the time to realize
That you almost drove me to death with your lies

If you cannot get help, you need to stay out of my life
Your betrayal of trust cut like a knife
A stab in my back,
Helped me set my life back on track

I thank you for making me realize
But it has taken off your disguise
The amount of times I have cried
Over your threats, lies, and crimes

Your little games will not fool me again
Because you clearly have no working brain
I hope you finally see
that who I am now is no longer who I used to be

That dumb, selfish kid who trailed behind you like a little duck
is now truly strong and beautiful but I wish you luck
in your journey to healing if you ever decide to take that choice
But for now, I will use my voice

Lying, manipulating, and crying will get you nowhere
So in the meantime, have fun with your nightmares

About this poem

Out of every relationship I've had, the very first one will forever be the most toxic I've ever been in. He lied, manipulated, and controlled me for the 2 years we knew each other. I was a fool to think I could even trust him with my secrets or anything in general.
