Assaulted Pretensions

Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)

We are living in times,
Of corruption, crime, fraud and deception.
With decadence marketed,
As a standard to value as a way of life.
Today normalized.

And yet accepted,
Are complaints heard...
Coming out of the mouths,
Of pretentious hypocrites.
Protesting against their fictioned lives.
To declare their valued delusions,
Have been assaulted by those who choose...
To expose the truth as it is.

'Enough.
Enough already with that.
Now...
Is everyone ready?
Quiet on the set.
Roll film.
And..
Action.'

'If we allow our institutions,
To be publicly disgraced.
And openly humiliated.
What future can we expect,
For our innocent children to inherit?'

'And...
End of scene.
Wonderful delivery. Very nice.
That will be a wrap.
Talent and crew take a lunch break.
And we'll come back to film again,
MORALITY AND ITS WHOLESOME BENEFITS.
After reviewing what was done,
Yesterday.
I noticed,
A few of you appeared to have lacked,
Commitment to your performances.

Do or do we not,
Want a film we all can be proud of?
Think about that.
Go ahead and break for lunch.
We'll discuss why we are paid,
Big bucks to please your fans.
As well as the paying public.
At a later time.

And please...
Please.
No one,
Bring your personal feelings to the set.
Remember...
You are actors with reputations to keep intact.
And we all should be after awards to win!
Got that?
Whatever you feel and how you express it.
Choose appropriate places,
To leave your image and mine unaffected.
Remember that!
Be back here in...two hours!'
