The Last Hour
The last hour is torture. A kind of torture that you impose on yourself because even though it'll break you, it saves the one that deserves everything.
The last hour is filled with tears that are so painful, they literally burn the side of your face.
You reflect on everything that has led up to this last hour, and everything that will happen in the next hour.
You sit there thinking about the result you know you need, but it's the farthest thing from what you want.
You try, with every ounce in you, to soak up as much as you can because you know it's going to have to last you a lifetime.
You know you'll never get another hour. But how can this be, when every other hour you've ever spent has been graced by a love that has never ended?
At this point, in the last few minutes of the hour, you begin to wish it had already happened the hour before this, so at least you had an hour head start on processing a life without someone who has made up every hour during a time before this end.
And then it happens.
You hear the sound of car doors closing and strategic mumbling. The sounds only grow closer, meaning every minute you had in your last hour has slipped, and gone farther and farther until your time is up.
You didn't think you could cry harder, that is until they're welcomed into your home.
You grip onto everything you can. Feeling, holding, crying, kissing, crying, petting, crying, loving, crying, crying, crying, crying.
And then time stops. You are now frozen in a purgatory-like state where your last hour no longer exists but your next hour is too painful to even move or speak or live in.
And the worst thing about it all? Time never actually stopped. Time never gave you a minute, a second even, to catch your breath. You are just forced into your next hour, your next day, your next week, your next month, your next year after year after year.
And then the count down begins.
The count down where every next hour, day, week, month, and year brings your closer and closer to the one you lost in your last hour
