My dog

Oh how I wish you were here
And how I miss you everyday
Your loss was my biggest fear
This pain will never go away.

My best friend you were so loyal and kind
My Protector, My Copilot, My Sunshine,
And always My Biggest Fan..
A Gift from God ..A True Companion.

And Now my sweet Angel you’ll always be.
Still your loss has taken a toll on me.

My heart is now broken.
Letting you go was never the plan.
Every decision i made,
I hope you understand.
For Every vet visit we made was a disagreement.
And still you trusted me with 100 percent
Now Lead to the day May 27th

Decisions of guilt keep ahold of me.
Like this weakness I feel by force I feed.
What when where and how?
With a blink of an eye.
Just like that
Time will soon pass you by.

Consumed by this Emptiness now it’s my enemy
and now every moment with you is just a memory.
Some days.. I can bare some I can’t breathe
It’s the purest Kind of Love and your loyalty  That’s created a bond only some can see.

Draining myself the more I weep
A hole And I’m
Drownding it’s so deep
This loss it’s not real no it can’t be..
but you were so pale that it killed me
and the pain that you felt no I can’t see.
Still panting as you stared right at me. Refusing to go you were not weak.
Slowly loosing control it’s not in me.
Praying you float but we both sink
They said it was time that you go now I cant think
And now the day has come that’s been haunting me. In my arms you took your last heart beat.
Now You are gone no more suffering
You went through enough your love left pending
everything so rough never ending
Now It’s my turn to comprehend your pain
Forever I will suffer the loss of MaryJane.

About this poem

This is based off the pain I feel after I lost my dog from a surgery in an attempt to find her some relief it actually put her in shock and she woke up to a slow death her body reacted and could not stop the bleeding and I could not find it in me to put her down selfishly she suffered until I had the guts to do it I feel guilty for it all for the surgery and the following pain I caused her I only ment to help her and I wish she didn’t have to go on these terms I love her more then life itself and ten years wasn’t even enough time .

The greatest love we can ever express is to selflessly let go. I can't begin to describe how I felt your pain, Stephanie, nor can I express words to make you not feel what you have every right to feel. You loved your dog and she loved you. You've expressed this perfectly through your words. I'm sorry for your loss. Thank you for sharing yourself with us. I bid you peace.
