Every Fool’s Day

Richard Groff 1957 (Pottstown, Pa.)

If you crash and burn; then just return
You know that I’ll still be here
“Faithful and True” just waiting for you
Just waiting for ewe to return deer

Are you just an animal prowling around?
In your heat are you sniffing the air?
Searching for lovers to keep under covers
You can sleep with them nobody cares

You can eat till you’re full and then wipe your mouth
You say: I have done nothing wrong
But I caught you in school before ewe went south
I threw up; my gut wasn’t that strong
