Ruminations of a daemon

Witnessing the glory of thousands toiling in slaughter
my maw dripped at its resemblance of boiling blood
the thirst abruptly smited by hunger
as heaps of lacerated tissue and mangled cloth set fire
having ravished and desecrated the corpses to exorbitance
the horde began to burn them into the soil itself
that the decedents of this land such as their forebearers
may thrive on agony saturated earth afore parting in anguish
the horde completing the caseation of every last writhing soul fell silent
a figure stepped forth onto the terrace above
more terrific than any mortal or god in presence alone
brandishing the torn remains of women and children
the innocent flesh served as his battle vestiary
as he rose onto scarred bulwarks of a now lifeless kingdom
surging forth came a cry from his demonic mass so dismaying
for but a moment the sun darkened
succumbing to the deafening howl I collapsed
knees splashing into pools of blood and pus
in pure awe I joined the chorus:

"Hail to the Archfiend, Helmsman of fate"
