Sometimes

Sometimes I imagine,
that I would like to be
Another type of person
who is not at all like me.
Who won't do the things that I do,
or say the things I say
Who won't dream the dreams that I do,
and get to love someone someday.
And then no one would ever say
"You’re so twisted and so cold
Your heart lies here shattered
and hell will see your soul."
And then maybe I'll be happy,
and will never know this pain,
And maybe I will have my God,
and never write in vain.

Sometimes I imagine
That I would like to be
Just the same as always
Except as rich as rich can be
In a castle by the ocean
Far away from prying eyes
I could keep my heart there frozen
And never hear the lies.
And people could say what they will
And I don't have to care at all.
I'll immerse myself in material things
And say I'm having a ball.
And then maybe I'll be happy
Surrounded by false friends
And maybe some will love me
Even if the joy's pretend

Yet sometimes to be me
Is probably just as well
I could make others happy
Even though I'll burn in hell.
