Upon the Dawn

Upon the Dawn

An epiphany of sorts.
I awakened to the thought,
Misdeeds are still just that.
Regardless if unexposed,
The actions remain a fact.

Damage done,
Cloaked and disguised.
We are unprotected from the crime.
The destruction we created,
Remains with us deep inside.

Through our selfish, thoughtless acts,
We have harmed
That sense  of trust.
Betrayed, by our behavior,
We still pay a heavy cost.

Take time to own that truth.
Acknowledge what you have done.
Forgive yourself and make amends.
Carry-on renewed, with grace and new respect.
Authentic, it is what we need to do.

What you have done,
May leave a scar,
Which never goes away.
Yet, healing starts with each new morn
And the pain will fade to gray.

About this poem

Thoughts come to me easily in the morning hours. This poem was formed as I lay in bed thinking of the past and what is needed to move on.
