The Demon
Cheryl Scott 1959 (Indiana)
One drink, two drinks, threes drinks and more
From the depths of a bottle is where its poured
Piercing pain of demeaning words
Cruel and blistering now is heard
Night after night I cringe and wait
The demon will come from the bottles gate.
I see the bottle again in plain sight
I know the torment I face tonight
I hate this demon he's not from this world
Where does he hide in the depths of his world
I wish I could slay this demon I see
But then again would it be he or thee
I told you of this demon but to no matter
He holds you tight and has destroyed your manners
I watch you walk and run into walls
Tomorrow you'll say oh its he that calls.
Sooner or later the evil will come.
I'm afraid of what will be the outcome
My body is old my mind is tired
Solitary torment is mine I'm so tired.
From the gentle hands of once a lover
To the firey tongue of a demons cover
The bottle holds the kiss of his evil
Sleep brings peace and silences the evil.
