Sitting in the Cold

Tiffany Beeny 1984 (Florida)

As I sit here in your driveway
and wait for you to come
I think about the moment
I became so numb..

Afraid to just imagine
the way my life could be
I sat and contemplated
what's broke inside of me..

I jumped with raw excitement
when we became much more
with a phenomenon of craving
I've never felt before..

I thought that I had cleared away
the wreckage of my past
but glaring right in front of me
I saw we wouldn't last..

I put the cart before the horse
and nowhere could I go
for a buggy can not drive itself
this for sure I know..

When I think about tomorrow
and the gifts that are in store
I know inside my very heart
that I could love me more..

As I take on new adventures
in this story we call life
I stop and pause before I act
to keep away the strife..

I live in New beginnings
with everything I see
after all the pain that set me back
I can now be free...

I get to make a difference
with everyone I meet
for now I have an open heart
With God inside of me..

I focus on my goals
of what I can become
I know this is a better path
where I will not be numb..
