In a hole too deep

I laid on the grassy ground
With the soft dirt underneath me
I stayed there for a while,
Smiling at the sun

But then the rain came
And flooded the field I would lay on
All of a sudden I couldn’t smile,
and the sun was gone.

I started digging
I had no more energy
but to dig and pull out remaining blades of grass and already wilting flowers,
and soon I found myself
In a hole too deep to get out of.

About this poem

I wrote this poem about having a peak of happiness and it all just falling apart. How as time goes on you get worse and worse, until it seems you'll never get better.
