Hangman

Well, I cut a hangmans noose.
And as he slipped loose.
I looked up to my maker
And screamed "why does he get the truth?"

Well, look at me my son.
There's things you can't outrun.
Sometimes they are caught up to
And choose just to bite the gun.

But dear God why now?
A strong man cut down.
Was his soul bad enough that
His feet shouldn't touch the ground?

Did he pray for help?
Did he repent for all his sins?
What happens to his wife?
What happens to his daughter?
Was the enemy trapt within?

But God why him?
