Mere Words

The sounds are well rehearsed, the syllables, well known
Even though expertly versed, or quickly thought, and thrown

The grasp is slippery and elusive, to even well trained ears
Meaning clear or inconclusive, depends upon, who it is that hears

Wars and great conflicts, are fought for things both simple, and absurd
All which might have been for naught, at the turning of, mere words
