Innocence Lost

You stole the innocence of a child
Thinking it was something that was mild
Never thinking of the ever lasting effects
Only about what was going to happen next
Pretending like there wasn't a monster inside
So you never had to go and hide
Sorrow never filled your heart
Only tore your life apart
Living life to the fullest
Though the child knew you were the cruelest
Seeming like a perfect husband and man
When the child was the only one who truly would understand
The deepest darkest secrets you held within
Making sure the child would never tell so you could win
It seems like your biggest prize got the best of you your pride
There's no relief or reason of understanding for the child
Since you had to go on never saying anything about it and died.
