it comes and goes

it comes and goes, time

a fickle thing, shy and tepid

like the ebbing shores of his heart

it washes up and down

swaying slightly in the bask of the moon

time comes and goes

i won’t stop living

i’ll simply continue

and when i lost him in the war

my wind grew from a gentle breeze to a torrid hurricane

constructed from the sway of time and the ebbing shores

his name will be unknown to all that come after

and was well unknown to those before and during

but in my heart he will remain, an infinite lasting reminder of my endless grief and failure

of when i lost to time

About this poem

this poem, written in 2021, was inspired by a character from a popular video game, venti, from genshin impact. i find myself relating to this character in terms of a happy facade put on to shield peoples expectations of myself, and the feeling of loss that stays with you forever. i hope someone out there can enjoy this.
