Free verse

The struggles I face are real,
My depression goes unnoticed,
These so called friends are more than fake,
And apparently I'm the only one who knows this

I listen when they speak to me,
watching as they think of what to say,
The hesitation between each word silently gives them away,

Unaware, they just
blew their own cover,
Sometimes I want to laugh,
but i end up crying instead,
I walk to my room dim the lights,
And that terrifying thought comes back
to remind me
" that maybe I am better off dead,"
I can't ignore it, like I can't ignore the lies I'm being told,

If they put a price tag on love,
Then there love for me would be cheaper than the cheapest gold,

An still I'd believe it,
Believe they care about me,
But in the end, I know they never have an never will,
An so life will go on with or without me,
An so it is an so mote it be.

joseph shelton

Hi. I consider myself not beginner but further than amateur in my writing I've been at it for several years now and my hope is to one day use my writings to inspire the lost, the hopless, the suicidal, cause that was me and still I find myself having to reroute my thinking to avoid hitting them spots again. more…
