Steadfast

STEADFAST

I have suffered much
Weathered so many a man’s disdain
My faults and errors
Unto me boomeranged
And brought to me affliction
And so much pain.

But what brought greater
Suffering are the hateful,
Vengeful actions of men
That hurled me into misery
Wallowing in my own tears
Totally helpless and hapless.

My only resort was prayer
To which I held on
And hang on amid so many
People’s harsh judgments
Unto God Almighty I
Pleaded for help and strength
Seeking in His care grace,
Peace and comfort.

Now my heart is so glad
Savoring God’s abounding
Love, with my eyes seeing
An undeniable truth:
That mercy outruns malice.
