Even Still.

Ive chased you for years.  Oh so many now
I tried over again to forget you, but how?
How could you be here, lingering Even still ?
It was just one kiss, one night if you will.

A lifelong crush, it seems so silly I know.
To carry this dream from so long ago.  
You moved on to a perfect life, left me behind
Yet I close my eyes, Even still your face I find.  

We don’t speak, haven’t for years
Even still I silently cry these tears.  
As years have passed, my heart it stays
Clinging to a time, of life’s happiest days.  

Used to hold out hope that maybe someday
You’d come rescue me, oh how I’d pray.
But then I saw how happy you were, so true
The perfect life you live, I just knew.

It was time to release these dreams I’ve kept
Time to dry these many rivers  I’ve wept.
So I closed my eyes that my heart could just let go.   
It felt so good, but it’s you Even still!   I’ll try again tomorrow.
