Greed

Greed
Greed is the root of all things
That is why Eve ate fruit from the tree
But let’s speed forward in time a little bit
And take a look at everywhere we’re hit:
Wars, robbery, scams, drugs
Happiness, desire, grief, love
Winner, winner, chicken dinner
Looks like we got our best sinner
We’re hungry for any kind of love
Especially from the One up above
But does that even matter though
Or is it just to rationalize the unknown
Trying to make sense of the senseless
Because we refuse feeling helpless
Conjuring up an illusion
But the more there are, the more delusion
Greedy for any solution
Which we’d rather choose
Some random excuse
Greedy, greedy, little birds
Reaching out for little worms
But maybe this is all wrong
And I’m also a little bird singing a little song
But there goes the greed again
Searching for another end
