Down the river, in which I wade,
I cross lands of life and lands of dread
Through time, they all have decayed
Regretfully, I am no longer able to tread

With every journey, I watched them rot
Deliberately oblivious to the occurrence
Solutions to be found but never sought
They had not a chance, no deterrence

Had I been more attentive, more concerned
These lands would still be able to flourish
Being nurtured is what they had yearned
Yet I was not willing to nourish

Now when I view the barren lands
Remembering what they meant
It is only now I am able to understand
Where to put the time I should have spent

Even if desolate, what I do know
Is that my promise is to give it time
Planting the seeds, it will regrow
After all, these lands are mine.
