Safe Love

Some nights I wish I was holding your hand instead of my own
But I know how much safer it is to walk this world alone
Even though some days I am too scared to get out of bed

At least I don’t have to worry about the goodbye letter or the empty picture frames
Because the frame was never full to begin with

And I will not burn our pictures because I won’t take them in the first place
I will not let you in but on my darkest of days I will consider it
I will creep over the edge of the cliff, just enough to see what I’d be falling into but not enough to actually fall

Because what is love if not a mistake?
