New Perspective

It is as if the world is on my shoulders
The pressure so strong, I can feel my back begin to break
And yet, it is not real, no pressure, no weight
Just the strain my mind has created.

But that is too obvious, so obvious that I don't notice.
So, I keep on moving, struggling with each step
Holding up this imaginary weight.
I start looking deep within myself, hoping to find some surge of strength with which I can hurl this burden off of my shoulders.

While I am yet pondering this concept, everything seems to stop,
Time stands still, the air is still, my mind is still.
As I continue to look deep within myself, I see my own desires, my intentions, my thoughts.
Questioning them, I realize that they are impure, they are unjust, and self-serving.
With this realization, I make a commitment within myself to change.
As my minds voice is yet speaking these words, the burden seems to lift. My back straightens, I feel free.
Free knowing my intensions are pure.

Then come the wings, no... not wings, love
But how can one describe such a thing. It is but a principle, and yet an emotion, a feeling, a way of life.
These wings seem to take me to a whole new level of existence. The strains, storms of life, just don't look the same. As the flying eagle looks down and see's the storm beneath him, so has my perspective changed.
This eagle has confidence in himself, that he can overcome as he has done over and over before.

Time starts moving again, I can now feel the light gentle air on my skin, but min mind remains focused.
A renewed mind is the one thing I can take from this parable of reality.
Although this journey seemed to take a lifetime, I've come to realize, not much time has passed at all.

I emerge from this experience with a new outlook on life.
One opposite to that with which I went in.
One with which life's goal is to give and not to take, to pursue knowledge and understanding, not prefer ignorance, to pursue wealth for everyone, not just myself
To fight for peace.
This is my New Perspective.
