PTSD

Running and falling all at once
Down the rabbit hole
Flashes of images dance about
The pain within taking its toll

Constantly seeing what I fear
Living my worst nightmare
Over and over it keeps happening
Never something I want to share

Mental exhaustion and fatigue at its best
Constantly battling the mind demon
Monsters in my nighmares come from hell
With no light to beam in

Shake of the head and misdirection
I live by distractions and recollections
Alone sitting with empty arms
Wanting nothing more than his affections

Survive is a strong word
Feeling strong is a struggle
Death, Pain, Loss, Remorse, Grief
I am forced to juggle

My mind disconnects and becomes useless
I cannot focus or speak
Rambling repetitions and pain
Mental illness at its peak.

About this poem

I lost my son at 5 months old this year. We lost him tragically at a babysitters with no reason as to why at first. Due to the experience of losing our son I developed PTSD of the images of him and events surrounding it. This is what it feels like.
