knots
to extend our grasp beyond
our inhibitions

we cinch
and flinch
knots
to secure our place within
our anticipations

we stress
and finesse
knots
to ensure our net profits
our affectations
Around and through and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and over and under and through
we grip and trip and slip
knots
to guarantee a satisfactory snap
when our rope ends
as it must
