Creature of Choice

Found a vagabond, passing his night along
in a dark alley.
Never understood right from wrong,
He fights alone in this mad city.
He looks at me with envy, using his gaze to offend me

We pass by each other, I can see through his disguise
The look in his eyes tells me he wants me to die,
Dropping his guise, manipulation and lies.
Looking to cut ties, he pulls his knife
I’m thinking I might lose my life tonight, that’s when

I drop my facade, drop my mirage.
Round of applause,
For the creature of choice,
He’s losing his voice.

Look him dead in the eyes,
Each day we make a choice,
You mortals are the sum of your flaws,
Imperfections and all.

You, who placed a price on my life,
Wielding the knife, looking to fight
For pennies and crumbs, bum.
Your choice takes a toll

Crumbs or your mortal soul?
I’m a creature of choice just like you
You have more to lose,
Your choice, you choose.
