Grounding

You're too alive in there, as you sleep,
facing shadows in the night.
Retreating you scream but no sound escapes.
You won't give up the fight.

They taunt you to forsake your peace,
For their own emptiness.

Gathering your ministering angels, you fend off harm, bidding it take flight.
Banish them all. Make them flee,
then seal the portal tight.

Like a raft in a storm catapulted you reach,
grasping for the surface.
Like a hunted thing, you daren't look back
as you scramble for a knife.

To arm yourself from what you flee as the
darkness behind recedes.
Though dawn harbouring safety,
breaks warm and bright, take heed:

To drop that weapon,
allow your blade to sink into the earth.
This battle's not yours to fight;
your soul awaits rebirth.

Earth wishes to speak now -
to claim it's rightful place:
"You've reached safety."
It holds you tight with its cool, calm embrace.

"Leave those demons behind you, down far away below.
This world has much need for you, to give, love and bestow.
Come now sink more deeply, into my safety net.
I'm grounding after all, I'm yours, to rest your weary head.
Breathe and rest your tired feet. I'll absorb the knocks and blows.
I'll shield you from the storm; forge your roots inside my hold.
The danger has passed. You can forget all the lightening and thunder.

When you're ready, open your eyes and embrace the impact of your strength with wonder...
Step forth and see what grows now from your act of love and courage;
A small shoot reaching bravely for fresh, new unbroken promise."
