TO THE YOUTH WHO KNOWS IT ALL

TO THE YOUTH WHO KNOWS IT ALL

Youth, dare not make a mistake for two;
Look well, some missteps were done for you.
The past folk were young and did feel wise,
But the truth dawned on their later eyes.

You dream of great things, changes and heights;
The old folks seem to have lost their sights.
You are mistaken, tender, young one;
And your deeds might at last make you mourn.

Youth, dare not make a mistake for ten;
The mud has footmarks left by past men.
You might know much things, but don't be proud;
Learn from the lives of the aging crowd.
