Unseen

The isolation of my thoughts
crackling with hope
cautiously, quietly, ever-expanding
reaching out through the thick shadow
recoiling at the frantic, hopeless spinning of humanity.

My heart swells with a cry
Sending a flash of light through the pervading darkness.
Sharp.
Penetrating.
Brilliant.

Surging through the clouded mass
the piercing brightness explodes in a protective embrace.
Cutting through the shadows, the beam of love
shines through.
Unseen.

About this poem

Unseen originated when I woke up at 3 am with the words “The isolation of my thoughts” in my mind. I thought “that would make a good poem” so I started to form the next lines. Then I was afraid that I would forget what I had come up with so I got up and worked on it for 3 hours. Over the next couple of days I tweaked it and here is what I came up with. I haven’t learned the rules of how to write poetry. Sometimes I just like to express myself in semi-poetic form. I love to receive criticism and suggestions on how to improve my works. Please give me feedback so that I can improve my skills.
