Love Is

Love
Is the only actual power
In the universe
That I know is real.
I know it because
I can create it
In such powerful ways
Everyday.
I can use it when
I’m at a loss
For understanding,
When I can’t hear God
When I can’t accept Truth.
Love is something
I can call upon
When words aren’t enough
When time isn’t enough.
I finally get the heart
Of that great Apostle
And his timeless metaphor
For explaining this force
That can only be understood
In actions
Or in one act
Which is this life.
This great thing we call love
John had reversed:
Love is God—
God is not some entity
That bestowed Life
And then banned Life,
But a force that drove it
Even when it Fell.
Not some Deity
That created a flawed world
But the power
That made the flawed world
Precious and worth keeping.
Love is patient.
Love is kind.
It is not blind like romance
But sees the deep,
Even dark, parts
Of humanity. Sometimes
Seeing deeper than a human
Heart can even handle,
So much its almost
Supernatural.
Love is something I can believe in.
