JUST BUT PAWNS

They offered us an invitation to their rallies

Where they injected us with an overdose of subliminal empty promises

They assembled us in the congregation of Politickers

Where devoid affirmations of sweet tomorrows dangled in our faces

They strategically reminded us of our suffering,

whilst promising passports for a changed tomorrow

They preached of the evils of what was then our current situation

prophesying on the redemption from our misery that awaited us in the near future

For a YES vote they capitalized on  our desire to  taste change

A desire that rendered us gullible into believing their sweet talk

They exploited our credulity in the goodness of men

Knowing well enough that they were trading a pawn for a QUEEN

(Politics is a dirty game)
