We Both Are

Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)

If I had not been born to do me.
Better than anyone else could do?
I would not be who I am.
Or be capable to debate and argue,
Over whether or not...
My identity to know,
Meets the approval of your expectations.
Since...
It has been many years now,
I am willing to bet...
Both of us,
Know less than we think we do...
About each other.
To make assessments or pass judgements.
Although,
Taught to believe we can do this...
Without proof or facts of evidence,
Is a fear to face the truth to admit it!

'I don't want to hear anything,
About your Critical Race Theory!'

'What has that got to do with us,
Being human brings?'

'There you go.
Always bringing up race.
The color of one's skin.
Diversity and comparisons.
And on and on with no end to it!'

'Huh?
For whatever the reason,
That stays on YOUR mind.
And why?
Look...
Everything on God's Earth,
Is being replaced.
Except for ignorance!'

'Are you calling ME ignorant?'

'I want to call you STUPID!
But you?
You would think I am jealous. Envious!'

'Oh yeah?
What do you take me for?
An IDIOT! Or a FOOL?'

'Hmmm.
Let's see.
Which one do you prefer?
Believe it or not,
I'm really on your side.
And trust me,
This argument YOU started...
I want you to win it.
Seriously, I do!
And please...
Don't use the 'N' word.
Overdone and too overused!'

'I knew it.
You're the one who's a racist!'

'Yes!
We both are.'

'I happen to be,
A patriotic citizen...
Of The United States of America.'

'And...
Your point to make?
Is...
What?
