Life

Life
Prisca Nkem Osamor

What is Life?
We do not know,
We come to the world
We cannot speak
Probably we are surprised at what we see
Which in our womb earth we do not see
We go through different stages in life
We even grow to know more
Or grow to know less,
Will someone tell me the meaning of life.
To me life is growing to die
To African children life is hell on earth
When will there be world of life in Africa?
I weep for my beloved continent
I weep for Nigeria
Where children know Life as Living to die
Because majority grow to die
While some live with hope of to die soon
When will there be Life for African children?

About this poem

Was inspired by life around me in the year 2001 when I wrote this poem as a young girl. Just came across it in my library. Though I sent It to you then and was asked to make corrections to it which I never did. I believe it’s worth posting again. Thank you.
