The Prowler

The Prowler

You taunt me with your smooth facade
You stain me with your lies
You've played me one too many times,
And I fell for your disguise

You're a tattooed mess of arrogance
mixed with forbidden skill-
You mix your danger with your pleasures
And all my doubts are swiftly killed

You strut into a crowded room
commanding all eyes be on you
Demanding what you think you need,
Your a gangster through and through

Your sexuality floats upon the breeze
With the smell of cheap cologne
I keep in stride,
You flaunt me around
with possessive undertones

Why do I get so confused and weak
with these shady, squirrelly kind?
Have I forgotten how to trust my gut,
Or have I simply lost my mind?

About this poem

This poem describes the type of guy I always found myself attracted to, and I wondered why the dynamics were always the same with different guys I dated. This piece explains the type and dynamic with a humorous, cynical flair.

Sandy Sinn

Sandy Sinn is a Southern California native who enjoys anything creative and aesthetically appealing. Ms. Sinn suffers from bipolar 1 disorder, and advocates for the mentally ill. She uses writing as a form of healing and reflection surrounding the intense emotional experiences she endures daily from the "highs" and "lows" associated with bipolar disorder. Many of her poetry is dark, but darkness has been her companion for as long as she can remember. She began writing poetry around age 9 to cope from the dysfunction at home, and realized the power of Art back then. She could make others feel what she wanted them to feel through her short stories and poetry. Since then, she has written hundreds of poems, and also specializes in writing erotic mini reads which are published on various social media platforms. She owns a custom erotica service, of which she is the sole writer for, and is working on publishing her first book in a trilogy series of dark , redemptive poems. She wants to share with the world her "gift set" of books in hopes of helping those who are struggling emotionally to find the hope they need to go on. Ms. Sinn believes if we could read a poem, book, or other piece of literature, and feel some type of way about it, then the artist was successful. "Art unites us all together, because at the core of our existence, we all experience the same emotions regardless of the circumstances we are in." -Sandy Sinn more…
